Use Them: 10 New Bright Orange Recycling Cans in Wicker Park

There’s 10 new bright orange recycling bins in Wicker Park as of this past week. We noticed one just a few feet away from a trash can on the 1500 block of North Milwuakee Ave. earlier today.

Made possible by using Special Service Area #33 taxpayer dollars (funding was approved in March, per meeting minutes) the cans match the newish bicycle racks and will replace the green recycling receptacles that were present in the neighborhood for about two years and removed back in February.

The cans are made in the USA, manufactured by Recycle Clear in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They will be serviced by Cleanslate, the vendor that the SSA #33 uses for supplemental street cleaning.

On both sides of the cans is the logo for the SSA #33/WPB.

According to the recent SSA #33/Chamber e-newsletter, the orange can program will be monitored to evaluate its success and potential for expansion. Does anyone know where the other 9 cans are placed? We’ll likely encounter most of them in our foot travels, but if anyone has a link or a map please add it. Thanks.
