Happy weekend! As of now, some folks are still without power (see comments).
In other news, Here’s our picks for having fun in the ‘hood. If we missed your event, add it as a comment.

SAT AND SUN, Noon-10PM: The biggest thing happening sorta around these parts is West Fest, in West Town. The two-day festival is located on Chicago Avenue, between Damen and Wood. There will be live music on three stages, activities for kids and pets, as well as the launch of a mobile shopping app called Discover West Town. Read more HERE and see you there! $5 gate admission requested donation.
Here’s what else is happening besides West Fest this weekend.
SATURDAY:
7AM-5:45 PM: Dip in the pool and stay cool. Check out the hours for Holstein Park Pool, 2200 N. Oakley.
Noon-10PM: West Fest
1:30-9PM: Second-to-last weekend to see the 12th Annual Sketchbook Festival at Collaboraction Theater, on the 3rd floor of the Flat Iron Arts Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave. Various shows throughout the day. Read Jon Graef’s review of Honeybuns here.
6-10PM: Art Opening: Septenary (ohnodoom, 1800 N. Milwaukee)
from the gallery: Septenary is a group of seven sculptors, gathering on the seventh day of the seventh month, to exhibit at OhNo!Doom Gallery. Septenary is the space’s second sculptural show, a follow-up to Imaginary Menagerie (the gallery’s sold out sculpture exhibit of 2011). Returning artists Chris Ryniak, Amanda Louise Spayd and Lana Crooks (all currently 2012 Designer Toy Award nominees) are joined by Jake Waldron, Melissa Sue Stanley, J.Shea and Melita “Miss Monster” Curphy. They are seven of the most exciting sculptors in the character scene today using fabric, clay, silicon, wood and wire to bring monsters, creatures and fantastic beings to life. Septenery runs through August 4th.
SUNDAY:
8AM-2PM: Wicker Park Farmers Market (1425 N. Damen, in the park)
Come on out and support the hardworking Farmers that wake up at crazy early hours and sell fresh produce and packaged goods in the park.
11AM-12:30: Free concert by members of the Symphony Sounds String Quartet. At Schiller Grove, corner of Schiller and Damen. Read more. If raining, the concert will take place inside of the park field house, 1425 N. Damen.
Noon-10PM: West Fest, again.

3-7PM: Via a flier, we spotted a No Parking Two Zone Alert due to a filming for a Time Inc. Studio web series. The affected streets are West side of Milwaukee from Honore to Evergreen, West Side of Milwaukee from Honore to Wicker Park Ave., and both sides of Evergreen from Milwaukee to the El Tracks.
