Coming Soon to Bucktown: Name This Thai Restaurant
By chicago-pipeline at June 13, 2012 | 4:45 pm | Print
It’s so new, it doesn’t have a name yet, but the ‘For Rent’ sign is finally down at 2062 N. Damen (formerly home to Daniel’s Antiques) and a ‘No Name Thai Restaurant’ is coming to Bucktown this fall.
The Pipeline jotted down the owner’s name in a now-lost-steno notebook that is either in Phil Phlash’s car, or at any number of stops we stopped at yesterday. The good news is that we had very little notes in the steno we hadn’t already transcribed outside of a day’s worth of exploring and our handwriting is so sloppy it’s unreadable, even to us sometimes.
We believe the owner’s name is Ge, if we recall correctly. Ge has worked at a sushi restaurant for almost 15 years and the to-be-named restaurant will be owned by he and his brother-in-law. They’re shooting for a September 2012 opening and will spend the summer building out the property. Ge is welcoming name ideas for the new venture, so leave the name ideas here as a comment and we’
ll reroute to him.
a few names off top of head: Ghost Pepper, Damen Thai, Bucktown Thai, Thai You Can Try
