Featured below are the Top 3 Bucktown Community Happenings for the week of June 11-17th.  We found out about some of them in the Bucktown Community Organization e-newsletter. Memberships to the BCO begin at $20 ($10 for seniors).

Wed. June 13, 7PM: Planning meeting for the BCO Garden Walk at Club Lucky, 1824 W. Wabansia.  Volunteers are needed at all levels and capacities to make the event featuring 100 neighborhood gardens a success. REGISTER YOUR GARDEN.  The guide book- a printed publication that lists the gardens as well as tree walk information- is looking for sponsors. It’s a great way to promote your local business, especially if you’re offering a deal to garden walkers. Email sponsor@bucktown.org or call 773-486-4353 to get in the booklet. Sponsorships begin at $50.  Check out our dispatch from last year’s walk.  Full disclosure: For the past three years we’ve been a media sponsor of the walk and barter an ad space in the booklet in exchange for promoting the event online as well as reporting on it.

Thurs. June 14th, DUSK (approx. 7:30PM):  Movies-in-the-Park kicks off its first flick of the year with Ferris Buellers Day Off at Churchill Park, 2007 W. Churchill (at Damen- map it). The movie is presented by the BCO in partnership with sponsors Olivia’s Market and Lottie’s Pub (after party).

Also happening this Thursday from 6-8Pm is a Fundraiser for Ald. Scott Waguespack at 1324 W. Fullerton (Lakeshore Athletic Club).  The Pipeline does not endorse political fundraisers, however, in case you’re curious, 1) Ald. Waguespack does not accept large donations from real estate developers. 2) He was one of  7 aldermen to vote AGAINST the Infrastructure Trust bank (check out 1st Ward Ald. Moreno touting the controversial plan here; the board of directors is expected to be named by Mayor Emanuel today, and 3) Waguespack was the recipient of the first Public Defender of Education Award from the CTU.  So with those three things in mind, he likely needs your support if you are into that sort of thing.

Lastly, there’s a volunteer 32nd ward clean-up this Saturday from 9-11AM. Meet at Ipsento, 2035 N. Western. Details here.
