Boom Week in Local Real Estate: 22 Closings (1 Foreclosure, 1 Short Sale)

The buyer’s market continues to power through the spring and into the beginning of summer. Market times for the closings this week were similar to last week, shorter than we were seeing in the early spring closings. The number of properties available has gone up 5-9% this week, so there are choices for buyers in today’s market. Sellers with appropriately priced and well marketed properties are getting and accepting offers on their homes! As summer progresses we’ll see if this level of activity continues or if we experience a slow down while Chicagoans enjoy the summer weather for other activities.
There were 22 closings in Wicker Park and Bucktown this past week: (4) Detached single family houses; (17) Attached condos, and (1) multi- unit building.
