Dispatch From Day 2: Glazed and Infused

Amanda and Liz were experiencing a rare down moment at Glazed and Infused, the new walk-up donut window attached to Francesca’s Forno, 1576 N. Milwaukee, when The Pipeline popped by yesterday (Tues) around 11:30 am.

Within a few seconds, a line had formed. Just seven of the day’s 13 flavors were still available. Not-so-subliminal message to donut lovers: Arrive early for the best selection. The heavily hyped maple bacon long john was sold out.

Justin, of the Iconology blog, is visiting from Florida. His brother lives in Wicker Park, so he was just walking around, unaware of the donut window until he happened across it. He decided to purchase two chocolate glazed donuts. One for himself, one for his brother.

G&I’s hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Mon-Fri., and 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m Thursday, Friday, and Sat. nights. On Saturdays and Sundays, G&I will be open from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Pipeline’s prediction: When Glazed and Infused sees how late Wicker Park wakes up, the weekend hours will go until at least 2PM. The nearby Wicker Park Farmers Market, launching Sunday, June 3rd, closes at 2 pm.

In suburban donut news, we’re pleased to report that the family-run Spunky Dunkers is expanding, though not too far from its original location in Palatine.  A Mother’s Day trip to the burbs had us checking out this sign, at 3441 N. Arlington Heights Road. The second Spunky Dunkers is a just a donut’s throw from Buffalo Grove High School.
