The First Friday of the Month is a big night for art openings and this Friday is no exception. Here’s what’s on our radar for Friday, May 4th, 2012. Missed your show? Add it as a comment.
From 5-9PM, the Tom Robinson Gallery, 2416 W. North, will feature seldom shown acrylic-on-linen paintings by Ron Lindenberg, masks by John Kurtz, and mechanical sculptures using vintage Erector Sets by Michael Thompson. Pictured is “In a Distant City” by Ron Lindenberg.
From 6-9PM stop by Jackson Junge Gallery, 1389 N. Milwaukee Ave., to check out ‘Illumination,’ featuring the photography of Kavan Geary. As previously reported, Geary utilizes light and its many facets to make natural objects and species catch the eye. Pictured are ‘Calla Lilies’ by Geary.
From 6-9PM, the Eyeporium Gallery, 1431 N. Milwaukee Ave. will host a reception for Giovanni de Sicilia, whose “highly abstracted oil paintings explode with the colors of the artist’s native Italy.” Be there, or be… Italian? Pictured is ‘Untitled’ by Giovanni de Sicilia.
From 6-10PM, via a post on the FIAA Facebook Page: “The Flat Iron Artists Association will be painting over the murals from their 3rd annual “Now You See it and Now You Don’t” art exhibit on May 4, 2012. The event starts at 6 p.m. but will vanish at 10 p.m., officially closing the show. Here is a taste of what you’ll miss.” The FIAA is located in the Flat Iron Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave.
From 7-10PM, the Parker Schreck Gallery Hosts its One Year Anniversary Party and Exhibition at 1747 W. North. Learn more about the evening’s featured art and artists here.
