NewsPHLASH: Dispatch from Beerster Hunt on Easter Weekend

Why look for Easter Eggs when you can discover hidden beer cans, some with mystery prizes in them?

Roving photojournalist Philin Phlash was on the scene for a Beerster Hunt that took place this past Saturday and was a collaboration between cyclists, local bike shops (Comrade Cycles, 1908 W. Chicago, The Bike Lane, 2130 N. Milwaukee, and Smart Bike Parts, 3031 W. Armitage), and bars (Happy Village, Archie’s, The Blind Robin).

The cyclists had 2.5 hours to stop at the six ‘checkpoints’ and search for cans as well as the coveted golden beer can.

Each checkpoint only had one golden beer can, and the person with the most golden beer cans was given a special prize and a trophy during after party festivities at Multi Kulti. In this photo, which The Pipeline believes was snapped in front of Happy Village (1059 N. Wolcott), the guy second from left is proudly showing off his golden can.

Did he win? How many were on the hunt? Did Phlash ride along on his bike too? Why did it start inside of the park fountain? All of those questions will remain unanswered…  We are on deadline to get the weekly newsletter out and thus will just assume a ‘a fun time was had by all’ and let Phlash’s images speak to that! Visit his blog anytime at philinphalsh.blogspot.com.

From the flyer, it appears the next Beerster gathering will take place on Sunday, April 22nd.
