Earlier today, volunteer court advocates* Joe Kopera and Sandy Johnson went to 26th and California, Cook County’s Criminal Court Branch 66, to follow up on two cases with local connections: Tagger Kristopher J. Klimala’s brutal stabbing murder of another tagger, Linear Cabellero, this past January 21st, near Armitage and Western, and the rape which occurred on the 2300 block of West St. Paul, just west of Western on Sat. January 28, 2012. The following update was shared by Joe Kopera via email:
Kristopher J Klimala (Wicked) – Charged with First Degree Murder -The defendant is currently in Cook County jail unable to post the bail on his $750,000.00 bond. This case was super-ceded by a grand jury indictment. – New case number 12CR3540 was assigned. The case was then continued to 3/6/12 at 9:00 AM in Room 101 – At that time a court room and judge will be assigned the case and it will move to that court room and the defendant will be arraigned, the defendant most likely will plead not guilty and a public defender will file a motion for discovery.
Michael Giffin – Charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault at the St Paul St address – This case was also super-ceded by a grand jury indictment – New case number 12CR3730. The defendant is out on $750,000,00 bond and appeared at court in a suit with his parents (assumed) and was represented by two different lawyers, The case was continued to 3/8/12 at 9:00 AM in room 101 – At that time a court room and judge will be assigned the case and it will move to that court room and the case will be arraigned, the defendant will most likely plead not guilty and his lawyers will file a motion for discovery. His lawyers today filed a motion for preservation of all police and state attorney notes related to this case and the motion was signed by the judge.
