Ethnic Heritage Jazz Ensemble Inspires Jazz Weekend in Wicker Park

On Friday February 10th and Saturday February 11th, the A.N. Pritzker School, 2009 W. Schiller Ave., will be hosting the jazz group the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble as part of their ‘Jazz Weekend in Wicker Park.’ The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble was formed in 1976 by Kahil El’ Zabar and Edward Wilkerson Jr. and fuses American jazz with traditional African music. El Zabar, an internationally acclaimed jazz percussionist, has worked with the like of Dizzy Gillespie, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon.

Fellow band members, Ernest Dawkins ans Corey Wilkes are two of the Chicago area’s most respected and acclaimed contemporary jazz musicians.
The Pritzker School, Wicker Park’s only arts focused magnet school will be hosting two unique nights of performances. Friday the 10th is Family and Student Night and begins at 7 PM. Tickets are $20 each or $10 with a valid student ID. Saturday night offers patrons two concert options, one at 6 PM and one at 9 PM. Tickets for Saturday’s VIP shows are $100 each for the 6 PM performance and $30 or $50 for the 9 PM show. VIP tickets offer complimentary refreshments, better seating, and photo opportunities with the performers.
