Are you in the neighborhood?
By chicago-pipeline at June 5, 2011 | 6:00 am | Print
Are you a local business interested in helping to strengthen a local communication pipeline two years in the making?
We are partnering with “Printer’s Angels” to assist with printing our upcoming printed booklet, We’re in the Neighborhood. There are over 120 small businesses, schools, and community groups represented in this exciting booklet, which is our first PRINTED effort after putting together over 100 weekly e-newsletters.
The 84-page booklet features highly innovative LOCAL advertising, as well as original editorial and photography!
Printer’s Angels receive top billing in the booklet (how does “Page, the First” sound to you?!) as well as a special shout out in our weekly e-newsletter edition, sent to 3,000 local subscribers, with an average CTR (click through rate) of 32%.
All creative is due by NOON WED JUNE 29 as a high resolution, camera ready JPEG ad. Booklet goes to press June 30!! We are super psyched to work with Dupli-Graphic, a locally owned independent offset printer facility which has been in business long before “Green Colored Metal Waterbottles were common signs of a greener society,” per its web page.
We’re in the Neighborhood will be out by mid-July. (UPDATE: we are at the printer this week. Booklets will be printed around Friday July 15!) THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART IN THIS FIRST EVER PRINTED EFFORT!
We’re printing 10,000 full color copies and distributing the booklet through our participants, from July through Sept. We will also be personally giving out a limited number of copies of the booklet at four upcoming festivals, but only to those who express an interest in receiving the booklet. These things are not exactly cheap to produce (otherwise we would have done it two years ago) so while we might be giving it away “free,” we’re not planning to freely give it away. We’re not door-hangers.
Call 773-960-3997 to become a Printer’s Angel! Operators aren’t exactly standing by… they’re busy running around the neighborhood and taking pictures and writing stories, but they would love to hear from you! Be part of the fun & excitement!

Alisa, the new Pipeline site looks phenomenal! WOW!!! It looks really professional! And I love the tagline, “We Give Good Press.” Congrats! Who and how did you come up with this idea? How can I get my firm into this booklet “We’re in the Neighborhood” or advertise or get a column to discuss tax ideas with local businesses? I do have more business than I can handle, but I want to maintain a presence in the community.
Again, this site is more than an upgrade. It’s a revolution!
All the best,
Al (Big Al) Spenadel -
Hi, Al!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It is a definite improvement, though now more work, unless I scale back the e-newsletter and do it monthly or every other week, not sure. Jason Hinkle is the guy responsible for the design. It is a template but Jason tweaked it.As for “We give good press,” it was just something I thought of that fits for the most part what we try to do with focusing on positive news, plus maybe I had Beta Boutique’s catchy “We give good sales” in my head- always liked their tag-line!
A future column is a possible idea… at moment energies are focused on the printed booklet. Will give you a call tomorrow. Maybe we can meet for a beer at Handlebar.

[...] shops we’ve inadvertently left out. All of the hyper-linked folks are participating in the upcoming neighborhood booklet, too, speaking of which I need to get back to writing it! All content is due to copy edit tomorrow [...]
